The ECHOMAP UHD2 73sv is a 7 inch chartplotter and fishfinder combo from Garmin. It uses a touchscreen with keyed assist, and it supports three sonar types: traditional, ClearVü and SideVü. It also works with LiveScope live-scanning sonar. A GT54 transducer comes with the 7 inch unit. Connections include one NMEA 2000 port and one Garmin Marine Network port. Built-in Wi-Fi pairs with the ActiveCaptain app, multi-band GPS helps position accuracy where signals are weak, and it can link wirelessly to a Force trolling motor.
Our take
The 7 inch touchscreen with keyed assist means you can still work the unit by button when a wet or gloved hand makes touch unreliable. With one NMEA 2000 port, a larger network of devices would need planning, and LiveScope can't be shared between two units.
From our buying guide
What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.
Check before you buy:
- The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
