Skipper's Locker

How it works

A short list of gear we rate, and honest links to where you buy it.

1. We pick the gear

Everything listed is chosen by hand — gear we have used, fitted, or would fit ourselves. Nobody pays to be on the list and nothing is here because it pays the most. It is a short list, and deliberately so: we would rather stand behind fifteen things than pad it out.

2. You buy it from Amazon

Follow the link and you finish the purchase on Amazon, under their terms, with their returns policy. Every outbound link is marked as a paid link where it sits.

  • •We never take your payment details — we can't, we don't have a checkout.
  • •The order, delivery and any return are between you and Amazon.
  • •The price and availability at their checkout are the ones that count.

3. How we're paid

By commission, when you buy through one of our links. It costs you nothing extra, and it does not change what we list or the order we list it in. The longer version is on the affiliate disclosure page.

What isn't built yet

The plan is a searchable catalogue: one page per product however many retailers sell it, every retailer's price against it with the time we last checked, and a record of which boats and engines each part suits. None of that exists today — there is no search, no price comparison and no fitment data on the site right now.

We would rather say that plainly than describe a catalogue you can't use. When it is built, this page will describe it in the present tense.
