The Rocna ROCORG025SS is the 25 kg (55 lb) stainless steel version of the roll-bar, scoop-bladed Rocna anchor, with a mirror polished finish. It is made from tempered 800 mPa high tensile steel and has no moving parts. The roll-bar turns the anchor to the right attitude, and skid-rails then angle the tip for setting, even in soft seabeds. A slotted attachment point lets the head of a shackle pass. It carries RINA certification for Super High Holding Power and a lifetime warranty.
Our take
The roll-bar and skid-rails do the setting work on this 55 lb (25 kg) Rocna: the bar turns the anchor to the right attitude and the rails angle the tip, even in soft seabeds. With no moving parts, the maker lists no mechanism as a failure point.
From our buying guide
The Coast Guard does not regulate anchors, so no anchor carries its approval. Each maker sizes on its own assumptions, so a size on one chart does not translate to another.
Check before you buy:
- You know what wind the maker's chart assumes. Rocna's assumes 50 knots and Fortress's 30 knots.
- It fits your bow, since makers say some designs fit bow rollers, bow pulpits or bowsprits better.
- The type suits your bottom. A Coast Guard Auxiliary article says the right type depends a lot on your boat, your anchoring and the make-up of the bottom.
