The Rocna ROCORG015SS is the 15 kg (33 lb) stainless steel version of the roll-bar, scoop-bladed Rocna anchor, finished in mirror polish. It is made from tempered 800 mPa high tensile steel and has no moving parts. The roll-bar turns the anchor to the right attitude for setting. A slotted attachment point lets the head of a shackle pass, so the largest shackle that fits the chain can go straight on. It carries RINA certification for Super High Holding Power and a lifetime warranty against breakage or deformation.

Our take

On this 33 lb (15 kg) Rocna, the slotted attachment point lets the largest shackle that fits the chain go directly on the anchor, so the chain does not have to step down to a smaller one. The roll-bar also turns it to the right attitude for setting.

From our buying guide

The Coast Guard does not regulate anchors, so no anchor carries its approval. Each maker sizes on its own assumptions, so a size on one chart does not translate to another.

Check before you buy:

  • You know what wind the maker's chart assumes. Rocna's assumes 50 knots and Fortress's 30 knots.
  • It fits your bow, since makers say some designs fit bow rollers, bow pulpits or bowsprits better.
  • The type suits your bottom. A Coast Guard Auxiliary article says the right type depends a lot on your boat, your anchoring and the make-up of the bottom.
