This is Harken's 22 mm Micro block with a becket. It has stainless side plates with Delrin ball bearings and takes a 3/16 inch shackle pin. It is 2 inches long and weighs just 0.75 oz. Safe working load is 200 lbs. The maker lists it for cunninghams, outhauls, vangs, traveler controls and barberhaulers, among other light control jobs on a small boat.

Our take

A 0.75 oz weight and a 200 lbs working load mark this as a block for light control lines. The Delrin ball bearings go with the maker's description of a small, free running block, which is what you want on a cunningham or outhaul tackle.

From our buying guide

Ball-bearing blocks give the lowest friction on lines running under moderate loads. Plain bearings have more friction, but handle very high and static loads.

Check before you buy:

  • A ratchet block is rated for the full sheet load.
  • Any becket's load limit suits the job, since a becket can be rated below the block itself.
  • A soft-attach block will be looked after, since Harken warns soft attachments are prone to wear and recommends them only for regularly maintained race boats.
