This Harken micro fiddle block has a 22 mm sheave, a V-Jam and a becket. The side plates are stainless steel, the bearings are Delrin balls, and it takes a 3/16 inch shackle pin. Safe working load is 350 lbs and it weighs 2.0 oz. The V-Jam is smoothly rounded to protect the line, so it can be used to build compact self-cleating tackles.
Our take
The rounded V-Jam on this 22 mm fiddle block is the feature to note: it holds line in a self-cleating tackle while being shaped to go easy on it. Rated at 350 lbs and 2.0 oz, with a becket for the tackle end.
From our buying guide
Ball-bearing blocks give the lowest friction on lines running under moderate loads. Plain bearings have more friction, but handle very high and static loads.
Check before you buy:
- A ratchet block is rated for the full sheet load.
- Any becket's load limit suits the job, since a becket can be rated below the block itself.
- A soft-attach block will be looked after, since Harken warns soft attachments are prone to wear and recommends them only for regularly maintained race boats.
