The Mustang Khimera is a dual flotation PFD that pairs foam with an inflatable chamber. The foam gives 7.5 lb of buoyancy at all times, and pulling the manual inflator raises that to 20.5 lb. The low profile cut is meant to keep movement easy and to help when climbing back aboard from the water. Side and shoulder straps adjust to fit the wearer.
Our take
The 7.5 lb of built-in foam floats you before anything is pulled, and the manual handle lifts that to 20.5 lb. That gives a slim vest you can wear all day with extra lift on demand, but someone has to pull the handle.
