The ECHOMAP Ultra 2 162sv is a Garmin chartplotter with a 15.6 inch FHD IPS touchscreen running at 1920 x 1080 pixels. It comes with a Worldwide Basemap and a GT56UHD-TM transducer, and the sonar is built in: single channel CHIRP traditional sonar plus ClearVu and SideVu scanning sonar. It connects to an NMEA 2000 network for heading sensors, autopilots and audio gear, and supports the LiveScope range with the transducer bought separately. It is rated IPX7, weighs 9.5 lbs, runs on 9 to 18 Vdc, and draws a typical 3.9 A at 12 Vdc. Bail mount with knobs is in the box.
Our take
The 1920 x 1080 pixel screen at 15.6 inches gives a lot of room to split charts and sonar on one display. With a typical draw of 3.9 A at 12 Vdc, the electrical load is modest for a screen this big, though LiveScope still needs its own transducer.
From our buying guide
What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.
Check before you buy:
- The part number includes the charts and transducer you expect.
- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
