The Bluestorm Motive is a Type III, Coast Guard-approved kayak fishing vest in Hi-Vis, size 2XL/3XL. It uses a lightweight, breathable mesh build with a 3D mesh lining and PVC flotation foam. Six adjustment points set the fit, and it has a zippered front entry, two large storage pockets, fleece-lined handwarmer pockets and multiple attachment points for gear.
Our take
The Motive's lightweight, breathable mesh build and 3D mesh lining are aimed at airflow, and six adjustment points with a zippered front entry let you dial in the fit. It is Type III and Coast Guard approved.
From our buying guide
US rules count Coast Guard-approved jackets. One approved only to European or ISO standards doesn't meet the US carriage rules, however good it is.
Check before you buy:
- The approval number is on the label, and the jacket fits you as that label marks.
- You're getting the US version, since some jackets are sold in two.
- If it's Level 50, it only counts toward what you must carry when it's worn.
