The Bluestorm Hi-Vis Motive is a Type III, Coast Guard-approved kayak fishing vest in size L/XL. A flexible 3D mesh lining sits against PVC flotation foam, and six points of adjustment let you tune the fit. It enters through a zippered front and has fleece-lined hand warmer pockets. Two large storage pockets and multiple attachment points keep tools and gear within reach.
Our take
A flexible 3D mesh lining over PVC flotation foam is the Motive's answer to stiff vests, built for freedom of movement. Six points of adjustment let you take up the fit, and the two large pockets keep essentials close.
From our buying guide
US rules count Coast Guard-approved jackets. One approved only to European or ISO standards doesn't meet the US carriage rules, however good it is.
Check before you buy:
- The approval number is on the label, and the jacket fits you as that label marks.
- You're getting the US version, since some jackets are sold in two.
- If it's Level 50, it only counts toward what you must carry when it's worn.
