The Vortex Diamondback HD 10x32 gives 10x magnification through 32 mm objective lenses. The linear field of view is 340 feet at 1000 yards, eye relief is 14 mm and close focus is 6 feet. It weighs 16 oz. The box includes a GlassPak harness, which keeps the glass close at hand, plus a deluxe carry case.
Our take
The GlassPak harness in the box keeps the glass close at hand and, per the maker, is more comfortable than a neck strap. It pairs with 10x magnification, a 340 foot field at 1000 yards and a 6 foot close focus.
From our buying guide
Steiner calls 7x the marine standard. Higher magnification narrows the field of view and makes the image more sensitive to hand shake.
Check before you buy:
- The water rating comes with its depth and time, since ratings vary widely between makers.
- The maker says what floats, the body or only a strap, since some make no flotation claim at all.
- A stabilised pair has a water rating you're happy with, since not every one carries a waterproof rating.
