This is the 9 lb (4 kg) size of the Rocna original anchor, a roll-bar and scoop design with a hot dip galvanized finish. Its sharp, chisel-like tip is made to cut into weed, grass and kelp, and the anchor is tempered 800 mPa high tensile steel. It is certified by RINA for Super High Holding Power, and Rocna backs it with a lifetime warranty against breakage or deformation. A slotted attachment point lets the head of a shackle pass, so the largest shackle that fits the chain can go straight on the anchor. Size is picked from the maker's chart using vessel length and displacement.
Our take
The hot dip finish covers the whole surface, including the inside of the hollow roll bar, so no bare steel is left hidden in the bar. At 9 lb (4 kg) it carries the same lifetime warranty against breakage or deformation as the rest of the range.

The Coast Guard does not regulate anchors, so no anchor carries its approval. Each maker sizes on its own assumptions, so a size on one chart does not translate to another.
Check before you buy:
- You know what wind the maker's chart assumes. Rocna's assumes 50 knots and Fortress's 30 knots.
- It fits your bow, since makers say some designs fit bow rollers, bow pulpits or bowsprits better.
- The type suits your bottom. A Coast Guard Auxiliary article says the right type depends a lot on your boat, your anchoring and the make-up of the bottom.
