The Dometic SaniPottie 975 is a portable toilet with a 5.0 gallon holding tank, in gray, supplied with stainless steel mounting brackets. Flushing is by push button from a 2.3 gal supply tank. It measures 15-1/2 in high by 14-1/2 in wide by 16-1/2 in deep and weighs 11 lb. The tank has a level indicator, a pressure/vacuum relief valve, and an extra-long spout for pouring out the contents.
Our take
The 975 keeps all its holding tank openings in the top of the tank, and the standard model empties through a pour spout, so you carry the 5.0 gallon base out to pour it. The level indicator shows when that trip is due.
From our buying guide
A vessel with installed toilet facilities must have an operable marine sanitation device that is labeled or certified. EPA says untreated sewage may not be discharged within three miles from shore, and in a No Discharge Zone treated sewage may not be either.
Check before you buy:
- You have what it needs, since heads may call for 12-volt power, through-hulls and seacocks, or a separate vacuum source.
- It fits the compartment, since Jabsco says an electric toilet needs more space at the rear than a manual one.
- If it could sit below the waterline, you'll fit a vented loop as the maker specifies, since Jabsco warns the vent, not the loop, is what stops the siphon.
