The Blue Sea 6007200-BSS is a mini selector battery switch that sets how battery banks connect to the electrical loads on a boat. It has tin-plated copper studs with a 3/8 inch-16 thread, and the 7/8 inch stud length leaves room for several cable terminals. The case can be mounted on a surface, a front panel or a rear panel, and a snap-on isolating cover protects the rear contacts.
Our take
The case on this mini selector mounts on a surface, a front panel or a rear panel, which gives some choice in where it goes in the boat. It is ignition protected, so it can be installed aboard a gasoline powered boat.
From our buying guide
Perko says its selector switches can be switched between 1, ALL and 2 with the engine running, and that they let you put batteries in parallel for emergency starting. Battle Born advises against that connection with its LiFePO4 batteries.
Check before you buy:
- Its continuous and 5-minute ratings suit your system. Perko rates its medium-duty 8501 at 250 A continuous.
- It has an alternator field disconnect if you need one. Perko says its AFD models protect non-unitized alternators if the switch is turned OFF with the engine running.
- If it's going in a gasoline engine space, the maker lists it as ignition protected.
