The Whale Gusher 10 is a manual bilge pump in a diecast alloy body, with large non-choke valves. It is rated at 65 litres (17 US gallons) per minute and is self priming. It can be mounted on a bulkhead, on the floor or through the deck. With a nitrile diaphragm it can also be used for diesel transfer, using service kit AK3714 sold separately.
Our take
Self priming and 17 US gallons a minute through large non-choke valves make it a serious hand pump, though it is manual, so it moves water only as fast as someone works it. Three mounting options let you fit it at a bulkhead, floor or deck.

Rule and Johnson both say their bilge pumps are not intended for damage control. Flow falls as the discharge head rises, and the length of the hose, its bends and any check valve reduce it further.
Check before you buy:
- The maker's own table shows the flow at head, since how much a pump loses depends on the model.
- An automatic pump also has a manual switch, which ABYC's voluntary 2005 standard calls for.
- You'll fuse it to the maker's figure.
