The Simrad NSS16 evo3S is a multi-function chartplotter and fishfinder with a 1kW CHIRP sonar and two transducer ports. It comes with a preloaded US chart covering inland and coastal waters. Page loading is 2X faster, and the SolarMAX IPS screen is optically bonded to prevent condensation inside. Two Ethernet connections allow networking with other units, and HALO pulse compression radar can be added to the system.
Our take
Dual transducer ports on a 1kW CHIRP sonar display mean more than one transducer can feed the same screen. The optically bonded IPS panel is also built to keep condensation from forming inside the glass.

What's in the box depends on the part number: Raymarine sells one screen display only, with charts, with a transducer, or with both. Not every chart card fits every plotter, either.

- It reads the charts you want, and you know how long their updates last, since many come with a one-year subscription.
- A touchscreen suits your helm, since Raymarine warns that prolonged rain or water wash can cause false touches.
