The Mustang Survival Classic Bomber Flotation Jacket in Orange, size X-Large, is a USCG-approved Type III PFD with 69 N (15.5 lb) of buoyancy. It weighs 3.2 lb. Closed-cell foam gives flotation and in-water insulation, and SOLAS reflective tape on the chest and both wrists is included. An internal waist belt reduces ride-up, and an insulated hood, part MA7136, can be added separately.
Our take
Closed-cell foam does two jobs here, giving flotation and in-water insulation that the maker says delays the onset of hypothermia after immersion. With 69 N (15.5 lb) of buoyancy and Type III approval, it is a foam jacket worn for warmth and flotation together.
