This Furuno 526TID-LTD/20 is a bronze thru-hull transducer with a low profile housing and a temperature sensor. It runs at 50 and 200 kHz with beam angles of 20 and 6 degrees and a 1 kW power rating. The element is tilted 20 degrees inside the housing to suit hulls with a deadrise between 16 and 24 degrees. The cable is 30 feet long and ends in a 10-pin connector.
Our take
The element is tilted inside a bronze thru-hull housing, which is how it copes with a deadrise of 16 to 24 degrees. The arrow on top has to point toward the keel on either side of the boat, so orientation matters at install.
From our buying guide
Raymarine's general guidance is 200 kHz for water under about 60 m (200 ft) and 50 kHz for deep water. In-hull transducers avoid a hole, but lose performance and need a solid fiberglass bottom.
Check before you buy:
- The housing suits your hull. Airmar and Raymarine rule out plastic on a wood hull and bronze on a metal one.
- It connects to your display, since an analog transducer needs an interface.
- A through-hull will be fitted to the maker's guide. Garmin says its own should be installed by a qualified marine installer.
