The Furuno 526TID-LTD/12 is a low profile bronze thru-hull transducer with temperature, rated at 1kW. It works at 50 and 200 kHz with beam angles of 20 and 6 degrees. The element is tilted 12° inside the housing to compensate for deadrise, and the maker says it accommodates a deadrise angle between 8° and 15°. It comes with a 30 foot cable and a 10-pin connector.

Our take

The element is tilted 12° inside the housing, which is how this transducer copes with a deadrise of 8° to 15°. Fitting it correctly matters, because the arrow on top has to point toward the keel on either side of the hull.

From our buying guide

Raymarine's general guidance is 200 kHz for water under about 60 m (200 ft) and 50 kHz for deep water. In-hull transducers avoid a hole, but lose performance and need a solid fiberglass bottom.

Check before you buy:

  • The housing suits your hull. Airmar and Raymarine rule out plastic on a wood hull and bronze on a metal one.
  • It connects to your display, since an analog transducer needs an interface.
  • A through-hull will be fitted to the maker's guide. Garmin says its own should be installed by a qualified marine installer.
