The Dometic SaniPottie 962 is a self-contained portable toilet in parchment, with a 2.6 gallon flush water tank above a 2.5 gallon lower holding tank. A bellows flush rinses the bowl, and it is emptied by pouring. The tanks are molded from high density polyethylene and latch together as a unit. It has a lift-up seat with lid and measures 12-1/2 inches high, 14-1/2 wide and 16-1/2 deep. It comes without mounting brackets.
Our take
The 962 holds 2.5 gallons of waste and has no tank level indicator, so there is no gauge telling you when it is full. Emptying means carrying the tank base to a disposal facility and pouring it out, which keeps the toilet simple but puts the lifting on you.

A vessel with installed toilet facilities must have an operable marine sanitation device that is labeled or certified. EPA says untreated sewage may not be discharged within three miles from shore, and in a No Discharge Zone treated sewage may not be either.
Check before you buy:
- You have what it needs, since heads may call for 12-volt power, through-hulls and seacocks, or a separate vacuum source.
- It fits the compartment, since Jabsco says an electric toilet needs more space at the rear than a manual one.
- If it could sit below the waterline, you'll fit a vented loop as the maker specifies, since Jabsco warns the vent, not the loop, is what stops the siphon.
