The Bluestorm Stratus 35 is a USCG approved Type II inflatable life jacket in the Kryptek Obscura Skyfall pattern. It inflates automatically once fully immersed, using a replaceable CO2 cylinder, and can also be inflated by pulling the Jerk to Inflate cord. Sizing is universal for chest sizes 30 to 56 inches. It has a zippered pocket and a bladder that repacks in 4 easy steps.
Our take
The automatic 1F mechanism fires on immersion and a Jerk to Inflate cord backs it up, which gives two ways to get the bladder full. The universal fit for chest sizes 30 to 56 inches means one jacket covers a wide chest range.
From our buying guide
US rules count Coast Guard-approved jackets. One approved only to European or ISO standards doesn't meet the US carriage rules, however good it is.
Check before you buy:
- The approval number is on the label, and the jacket fits you as that label marks.
- You're getting the US version, since some jackets are sold in two.
- If it's Level 50, it only counts toward what you must carry when it's worn.
