The Attwood 5612-7 is a Tsunami Mk2 bilge pump rated at 1200 GPH on 12V. A patented X-Air impeller is meant to stop air locking in the pump and hose. The elbow outlet rotates, so the pump can be mounted at any angle through a full 360°. The pump cartridge releases with one hand, and the mounting feet are on the outside, so the basket can stay in place while you install it.
Our take
The single-hand cartridge release is worth noting. When the 1200 GPH pump is mounted somewhere awkward in the hull, you can free the cartridge for service without needing both hands.

Rule and Johnson both say their bilge pumps are not intended for damage control. Flow falls as the discharge head rises, and the length of the hose, its bends and any check valve reduce it further.
Check before you buy:
- The maker's own table shows the flow at head, since how much a pump loses depends on the model.
- An automatic pump also has a manual switch, which ABYC's voluntary 2005 standard calls for.
- You'll fuse it to the maker's figure.
