The TRUEcharge3 60A is a 12 V, three-bank battery charger from Xantrex with a nominal output of 60 A. It has three DC outputs and charge settings for gel, flooded, AGM and LiFePO4 batteries. It weighs 4.5 kg and is rated IP32 under EN/IEC 60529, with a drip-proof design. The maker lists a minimum recommended battery bank of 120 Ah. Parallel stacking is supported, but only with a remote panel.
Our take
A 120 Ah minimum recommended bank means this 60 A charger is meant for a sizeable house bank, not a small starter battery. With three DC outputs and a drip-proof body rated IP32, it belongs in a dry spot in the engine room or a locker rather than anywhere exposed to spray.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
