The TRUEcharge3 10A is a 24 V, three-bank battery charger from Xantrex with a nominal output of 10 A. It has three DC outputs and charge settings for gel, flooded, AGM and LiFePO4 batteries. It weighs 2.2 kg and is rated IP32 under EN/IEC 60529, with a drip-proof design. The maker lists a minimum recommended battery bank of 20 Ah, so it works from a low starting point on bank size.
Our take
A 10 A nominal output with a 20 Ah minimum recommended bank makes this 24 V charger a slow refiller: a large bank will take a long time to come up at 10 A. It weighs 2.2 kg and is only drip-proof at IP32, so mount it where spray will not reach it.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
