- BMV-712 and BMV-702 battery monitors
This is Victron Energy's optional temperature sensor for the BMV-712 and BMV-702 battery monitors, part number ASS000100000. It reads the temperature of the main battery. The monitor uses that reading to optimise charging, and it lets you set alarms for both high and low temperature.
Our take
Offering both high and low temperature alarms means the sensor can warn about a battery running hot or sitting cold. It is made for the BMV-712 and BMV-702 monitors, so it needs one of those to work with.
From our buying guide
On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.
Check before you buy:
- 33 CFR 183 subpart I applies to boats that have a gasoline engine, except an outboard, so a gasoline generator counts.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
