The SolidSwitch 104 is a small Victron electronic switch for DC loads up to 70V and 4 A, driven by a low power digital signal. It runs on 8 to 70 V DC, works from -20 to 50 °C and has an IP20 enclosure. Loads of any of those three electrical types, even a high-power contactor coil, are covered. The switch has no reverse polarity protection and is not short circuit proof.

Our take

The SolidSwitch 104 is neither reverse polarity protected nor short circuit proof, so a swapped polarity or a fault on the load side is not forgiven by the switch itself. Its 4 A maximum load current is the ceiling to wire for.

From our buying guide

On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.

Check before you buy:

  • 33 CFR 183 subpart I applies to boats that have a gasoline engine, except an outboard, so a gasoline generator counts.
  • On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
