The Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/100-MC4 is an MPPT solar charge controller for a 48 V battery. It has two trackers, each with its own MC4 connector pair, and a rated charge current of 100 A. Open-circuit panel voltage can be up to 450 V. Each tracker accepts an array of up to 7,200 Wp. Bluetooth is built in, and the case is rated IP21.
Our take
Two trackers and a 450 V open-circuit limit mean this controller can take high-voltage panel strings on two separate inputs into a 48 V battery. Its IP21 rating is a basic enclosure rating, so it needs a dry, sheltered mounting spot on a boat.
