The Victron Smart IP43 Charger 24/16(1+1) is a 24 V charger delivering 16 A in normal mode, with a separate low-current 4A starter battery output. Maximum efficiency is 96 %, and the AC input accepts 85 to 250 VAC. It talks over Bluetooth and VE.Direct, and the enclosure is rated IP43. The AC inlet is an IEC 320 C14 with a retainer clip, and the AC cord is not included.
Our take
The (1+1) layout pairs a 16 A main output with a low-current 4A starter battery output, so a second battery can be kept topped up while the main bank charges. The battery temperature sensor is an add-on.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
