The Skylla-IP65 24/35(3) 120-240V is a waterproof Victron charger for 24 V batteries, with a nominal charge current of 35 A for the house battery and 3 fully rated charge outputs. It uses an adaptive 7-stage charge algorithm. The IP65 rating is aimed at marine, mobile and industrial use, and the AC input accepts 90 to 265 V. A battery temperature sensor is included.
Our take
The IP65 rating is the feature that defines this Skylla charger, and Victron says it is meant to withstand heat, humidity and salt air. Size the bank to its recommended 150 to 350 Ah range, since that is the stated window for its 35 A output.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
