The Skylla-IP65 24/35 (1+1) is a Victron battery charger with an IP65 enclosure and an adaptive 7-stage charge algorithm. It charges a 24 V house battery at up to 35 A, plus a 3 A output for a starter battery. A temperature sensor is included. It takes AC input from 90 to 265 V, and Victron recommends battery banks from 150 to 350 Ah.
Our take
The 35 A house output with a separate 3 A starter output makes this Skylla a two-bank charger, and Victron's 150 to 350 Ah range tells you what size of 24 V bank it is meant to feed. The 90 to 265 V AC input range also covers 120 V and 230 V supplies.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
