The Victron PhoenixCharger 24/25 (2+1) is a 24 V battery charger with three outputs: two full rated at 25 A nominal for house batteries and one 4 A output for a starter battery. It uses a four-stage adaptive charge of bulk, absorption, float and storage. A temperature sensor is included, and Victron recommends a battery capacity of 100 to 400 Ah. The enclosure has an IP21 protection category.

Our take

The PhoenixCharger 24/25 has three outputs, two full rated at 25 A and one at 4 A for a starter battery, on a 24 V system. Its IP21 protection category is a low level, so keep it out of the wet.

From our buying guide

NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.

Check before you buy:

  • It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
  • Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
  • It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
