The Phoenix Inverter 24/250 120V VE.Direct is a Victron Energy inverter that turns a 24 V battery bank into 120 V AC through a single NEMA 5-15R GFCI outlet. Victron's part number for it is PIN242510510. It is rated at 250 VA, which works out to 200 W continuous at 25°C with a 400 W peak. Maximum efficiency is 88 %, and the unit draws 5.2 W when nothing is plugged in.
Our take
The 200 W continuous rating against a 400 W peak makes this a small-load inverter, enough for a charger or laptop but not a kettle. It also needs a 24 V bank, and the 5.2 W it draws with no load is a steady drain if left switched on.
From our buying guide
On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
