The Phoenix Inverter 12/800 120V is a Victron inverter with a built-in Nema 5-15R outlet protected by GFCI and a VE.Direct communication port. It is rated 800 VA at 25°C on a nonlinear load, gives 650 W of continuous AC output at 25°C and has a peak power rating of 1,500 W. Continuous power falls to 560 W at 40°C. Maximum efficiency is 90 %, and with nothing connected it draws 6.5 W.
Our take
The 650 W continuous output at 25°C sits below the 800 VA figure, which is quoted for a nonlinear load, so size your loads against the watts. At 6.5 W zero-load power it also draws that from the battery with nothing plugged in.
From our buying guide
On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
