The Nucleo GX is Victron's compact GX communication centre, a lower-cost member of the GX family that gathers data from connected Victron equipment. It runs from an 8 to 70 V DC supply and has built-in WiFi, an Ethernet port, three USB host ports and two VE.Direct ports, with room for up to 25 VE.Direct devices. The enclosure is rated IP20 and it draws 3 W at 12V.
Our take
The Nucleo GX accepts an 8 to 70 V DC supply and draws 3 W at 12V, so it adds only a modest continuous load to the battery. It has no cellular modem and no relays, so remote access depends on its WiFi or Ethernet connection.
From our buying guide
BCI defines a battery management system as an electronic system that monitors a battery's condition, performance and health. Some lithium batteries have one built in and some need an external unit.
Check before you buy:
- A voltage reading means little until the battery has rested, and each maker sets its own rest and table.
- An amp-hour figure needs its rate, since BCI says rated capacity is specified at a particular discharge rate, temperature and cutoff voltage.
