The MultiPlus 48/2000/25-50 is a Victron inverter and charger in one case, built for a 48 V battery bank and 120 V output. It gives 1,600 W continuous at 25°C and 3,500 W peak, and it charges at up to 25 A. A 50 A transfer switch handles shore or generator input, and the unit talks to other Victron gear over VE.Bus. Up to 4 units can run in parallel for more output. Continuous output drops to 1,400 W at 40°C.
Our take
A 50 A transfer switch rating sets how much shore or generator AC can pass through to the loads, while the 1,600 W inverter output holds only at 25°C and falls to 1,000 W at 65°C. In a hot compartment it will deliver less than the headline figure.
From our buying guide
On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
