The Lynx Smart BMS 1000 (M10) is a battery management system made for Victron Lithium Smart batteries. It is rated for 1,000 A continuous and 1,200 A for 5 minutes, and works on 12 V, 24 V or 48 V systems. It has Bluetooth for VictronConnect setup and monitoring, M10 busbar connections and a 2.7 kg enclosure. There is no reverse polarity protection.

Our take

The 1,000 A continuous rating with a 1,200 A five-minute peak sets a high current ceiling for the bank, but there is no reverse polarity protection, so check battery cable polarity twice before connecting.

From our buying guide

BCI defines a battery management system as an electronic system that monitors a battery's condition, performance and health. Some lithium batteries have one built in and some need an external unit.

Check before you buy:

  • Battle Born warns that a BMS shutdown leaves the vessel without power, and that one during alternator charging can severely damage the alternator.
  • There is no one low-temperature limit for charging lithium, so take it from the manual for the battery you have.
