This Victron inverter runs from a 12 V battery, accepting 9.2 to 17 V DC, and feeds a NEMA 5-15R outlet. It is rated for 650 W continuous at 25°C and 560 W at 40°C, with an 800 VA rating on nonlinear loads and a 1,500 W peak. Idle draw is 6.5 W, or 1 W in the adjustable ECO mode. It weighs 5.5 kg and has a VE.Direct port for communication.
Our take
A 1,500 W peak against 650 W continuous gives this 12 V inverter surge room for motor-type starts, within the limits of the battery feeding it. The 6.5 W zero-load draw is the standing cost of leaving it on, and ECO mode trims it to 1 W.
From our buying guide
On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
