The Victron Inv12/500 is a 12 V inverter with a 120 V output through a built-in NEMA 5-15R outlet with GFCI. It is rated 400 W continuous at 25 °C, 350 W at 40 °C and 900 W peak, and 500 VA on a nonlinear load. It has a VE.Direct communication port. Zero-load power is 6 W, falling to 1 W in ECO mode.
Our take
The built-in NEMA 5-15R outlet with GFCI means loads plug straight in with no separate AC wiring. Zero-load draw is 6 W, dropping to 1 W in ECO mode, which is the number to weigh for an inverter left powered on between uses.
From our buying guide
On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
