This is Victron's MPPT Control, a panel display for monitoring and setting up BlueSolar MPPT charge controllers equipped with a VE.Direct port. It shows live figures such as solar watts, battery voltage and charge current, plus all-time and 30-day historical values. It sits in a BMV-700 series housing and can go on a wall using a wall mount enclosure instead of being flush mounted in a panel.
Our take
The 30-day historical values alongside the all-time values give a short and a long record of what the solar array has done, and the live readout covers solar watts, battery voltage and charge current. It is described for BlueSolar MPPT controllers with a VE.Direct port, so check yours has one.
From our buying guide
BCI defines a battery management system as an electronic system that monitors a battery's condition, performance and health. Some lithium batteries have one built in and some need an external unit.
Check before you buy:
- A voltage reading means little until the battery has rested, and each maker sets its own rest and table.
- An amp-hour figure needs its rate, since BCI says rated capacity is specified at a particular discharge rate, temperature and cutoff voltage.
