The Victron Blue Smart IP67 Charger 24/8 is a waterproof battery charger for 24 V batteries, with 8 A of nominal charge current. The 120 V version comes with a 1.8 m (6 ft) AC cable ending in a NEMA 5-15 plug. It uses an adaptive 5-stage charge algorithm and has built-in Bluetooth. The case is rated IP67. Output is fully rated up to 40 °C, and it derates 3 % for each °C above that.

Our take

IP67 protection means the 24/8 charger is built to be mounted where it may get wet, and it feeds a 24 V bank at 8 A. Mind the heat: output is fully rated only up to 40 °C, then drops 3 % for each degree above.

From our buying guide

NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.

Check before you buy:

  • It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
  • Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
  • It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
