The BMV-700 is a high-precision battery monitor that works out amp-hours consumed and state of charge. A 500A / 50mV shunt is included, linked to the display by a 10 metre cable, and the display flush-mounts. Current is measured to 0.4 % accuracy and the unit runs from 6.5 to 95 VDC. Data leaves through a VE.Direct port, and there is no Bluetooth built in.
Our take
With a 500A / 50mV shunt included and a 10 metre cable to the display, the BMV-700 lets you put the shunt at the battery and the display at the panel. It has no Bluetooth, so readings come from the display or the VE.Direct port.
From our buying guide
An amp-hour figure needs its rate, since BCI says rated capacity is specified at a particular discharge rate, temperature and cutoff voltage.
Check before you buy:
- A voltage reading means little until the battery has rested, and each maker sets its own rest and table.
- Ignition protection on a charger or switch is the maker's statement, so read what it says and which standard it names.
