This is a Victron current transformer with a 100A:50mA ratio, made for the MultiPlus-II and MultiGrid-II. It gives the inverter/charger external current sensing so it can run PowerControl and PowerAssist and optimise self-consumption. This CTR12 version has a wire end rather than a jack connector, and its cable is 1 m long. The same family also comes in 5 and 20 meter lengths.
Our take
The wire end on this CTR12 transformer means it is wired into the MultiPlus-II or MultiGrid-II rather than plugged in with a jack. It feeds PowerControl and PowerAssist, and the 1 m cable has to reach from the sensed conductor to the inverter.
From our buying guide
On a boat subpart I covers, an electrical component must not ignite fuel vapor around it unless it is isolated from gasoline fuel sources. Ignition protection is the maker's statement.
Check before you buy:
- 33 CFR 183 subpart I applies to boats that have a gasoline engine, except an outboard, so a gasoline generator counts.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
