The Centaur Charger 12/60(3) is a mains-powered battery charger for a 12 V battery with 60 A of nominal charge current. It has 3 charge outputs and accepts AC input from 90 to 265 V. It is ignition protected and recommended for battery capacity of 240 to 600 Ah. The aluminium case is rated IP20, and output is reduced at high ambient temperature, to about 80% of nominal at 50°C.
Our take
With 60 A of nominal charge current and a recommended bank of 240 to 600 Ah, this charger is sized for larger 12 V battery banks, and its 3 outputs can split the charge between batteries. Output drops to approximately 80% of nominal at 50°C ambient.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
