The BlueSolar PWM-LCD&USB 48V-20A is a Victron PWM solar charge controller built for a 48 V battery bank. It is rated for a 20 A charge current and takes a maximum solar voltage of 100 V. It carries two 5 V USB outputs, each supplying 2 A. Absorption is set at 57.6 V and float at 54.8 V. The enclosure rating is IP20.
Our take
The IP20 rating is the figure to plan around on this 48 V PWM controller. It states no water protection, so it wants a dry spot below deck, away from spray, while the 100 V maximum solar voltage and 20 A rating mark its working limits.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
