The BlueSolar MPPT 150/70-MC4 is a Victron solar charge controller that uses maximum power point tracking to draw the most from the panels. It has one tracker, takes up to 150 V open circuit, and delivers a rated 70 A charge current. Battery voltage is selected automatically between 12 V, 24 V and 48 V. Panels connect through two pairs of MC4 connectors. Peak efficiency is 98 %, and nominal panel power at 24 V is 2,000 W. A VE.Direct port handles communication.
Our take
The 150 V open circuit limit and 70 A rating set what this controller can take from an array: at 24 V it is rated for 2,000 W of panels. With one tracker, all the panels feed a single input, so they have to be wired as one array.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- On a boat subpart I covers, each ungrounded output conductor from a battery needs a manually reset, trip-free circuit breaker or fuse within 72 inches of the battery.
