The Victron Blue Smart IP67 Charger 24/5(1) 120V is a 24 V battery charger in an IP67 enclosure with built-in Bluetooth. It delivers a nominal 5 A and follows an adaptive five-stage charge algorithm. It is compatible with lithium batteries. Output is fully rated up to 40 °C and derates by 3 % per °C above that point, so heat reduces what it can deliver.

Our take

The charger holds full output only up to 40 °C, then gives up 3 % per °C above that, so a warm engine bay will cut the current from its 5 A nominal rating. The enclosure also carries an IP67 rating.

From our buying guide

NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.

Check before you buy:

  • It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
  • Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
  • It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
