The Victron Blue Smart IP67 12/7 is a 12 V charger delivering 7 A from a 120 V AC supply. The electronics are moulded in resin inside a cast aluminium case, and it is described as ignition protected. Bluetooth is built in. It can also charge LiFePO4 batteries, has a storage mode for batteries left idle, and can act as a DC power supply.
Our take
With its electronics encapsulated and ignition protection, this 7 A Victron charger can be mounted where damp and dirt reach it. Seven amps is a modest output, so it fits topping up and maintaining a single 12 V battery rather than fast recharging.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
