The Victron Blue Smart IP67 Charger is a battery charger in a case rated IP67, with built-in Bluetooth. It connects to the battery through a 1.5 meter red and black cable ending in M8 eyelets. In normal mode it delivers up to 17 A, and a low mode brings that down to 6 A. It follows an adaptive 5-stage charge algorithm and is lithium compatible.

Our take

An IP67 rating means the case is built to be waterproof, which is the feature that counts on a boat. The charger gives 17 A in normal mode, but it derates 3 % per °C above 40 °C, so expect less output in a hot enclosed spot.

From our buying guide

NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.

Check before you buy:

  • It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
  • Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
  • It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
