The Victron Blue Smart IP65 Charger 6V/12V-1,1 is a small battery charger, here in its 120V form. Its nominal charge current is 1.1 A, with an adaptive 7-stage charge algorithm and Bluetooth built in. The enclosure is rated IP65, and the AC lead is 1.8 m (6 feet) long with a NEMA 5-15 plug. It protects against battery reverse polarity, output short-circuit and over temperature, and its low power mode is meant to work with smaller batteries.
Our take
At a nominal 1.1 A, this charger is sized for small batteries, and its low power mode is made to work with smaller ones. A large bank would take a long time to refill at that current, so it fits keeping a small battery topped up. Its 7-stage algorithm still manages the charge.
From our buying guide
NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.
Check before you buy:
- It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
- Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
- It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
