Victron's Blue Smart IP65 Charger in the 24/13 120V version charges a 24 V battery at a nominal 13 A. It runs an adaptive 7-stage charge algorithm, is lithium compatible, and is adjusted through the VictronConnect app. It takes a 120 V AC supply through a 1.8 m (6 feet) cable ending in a US NEMA 5-15 plug. The case has an IP65 rating, giving it water, dust and chemical protection.

Our take

The IP65 rating covers water, dust and chemicals, which is the figure to check for a charger mounted where spray or grime can reach it. It delivers a nominal 13 A to a 24 V battery and carries a lithium-compatible setting.

From our buying guide

NMMA says charging sources must meet the charging profile the battery maker recommends. A charger's presets are its own maker's, not the battery's, so set it from the battery maker's figures.

Check before you buy:

  • It can follow your battery's profile, since not every charger can follow a lithium maker's.
  • Its output suits your bank. ProMariner recommends about 10 percent of the batteries' total amp-hour capacity, with one charger output for each battery.
  • It suits how you'll use it, since ProMariner says its waterproof chargers are for batteries not in use while charging.
